2008 novemberében került megrendezésre a negyedik Hundeszt Pálinka és Nemzetközi Párlatverseny Újfehértón a Zsindelyes Pálinkafőzde kft. Kóstolóházában. Ez volt eddig a legsikeresebb, ugyanis 376 mintát neveztek. Egy évvel korábban 220 minta érkezett.
Hundeszt névvel negyedszer rendezte meg a Magyar Szeszipari Terméktanács az Agrármarketing Centrum támogatásával. 2005 előtt a VinAgora párlatverseny keretein belül rendezték meg, 2001 és 2003 között pedig a Kecskeméti Hírös Napok alatt tartották Kecskeméti Pálinkaverseny névvel.
A Hundeszt célja, hogy a folyamatos minőségi javulást elősegítse, figyelemmel kísérje a termelők szemléletének fejlődését. A célok között van továbbá a pálinka minél szélesebb körű megismertetése és felhívják a figyelmet kultúrált pálinkafogyasztásra. A jelmondat: Minőséget mértékkel!
Ezen a versenyen csak olyan pálinkák és párlatok vehetnek részt, amelyek megfelelnek a hazai előírásoknak. A mintákat 20 pontos bírálati lapon értékelik. Az elbírálat során négy szempontot néznek a bírák: technológiai korrektség, gyümölcs jelleg, íz tisztaság, harmónia. Ezekből alakul ki egy összesített pontszám, melynek alapján kerülnek kiosztásra az érmek. Arany, ezüst és bronz. Ezt követően az összes aranyérmet nyert pálinkát a bírák újra megkóstolják és kategóriánként kiosztják a Champion díjat.
A versenyen 119 minta lett aranyérmes, 131 kapott ezüstöt és 58 kapott bronzérmet. A champion díjat 16 minta kapott.
2008-ban a legeredményesebb kereskedelmi pálinkafőzde az Agárdi Pálinkafőzde kft lett, a legeredményesebb egyéni főzető díjat pedig Pelle László kapta. A média képviselőinek különdíját a Békési Pálinka Zrt. nyerte. Ennek elbírálatára Budapesten a Magyar Pálinka Házában került sor.
